Review on the New Wiper Premium C Series model C180S Robot lawnmower for lawns up to 1800m2

Wiper Premium is manufactured in Italy by Zucchetti who also make Ambrogio robot lawn mowers. The Zucchetti range has become more popular over the recent years, due to some futuristic upgrades to its older models, back in the early 2000’s when they first came out the Zucchetti robots were the robot to own with many features not available on any other robot.  Unfortunately they disappeared from the UK and Irish market for a number of years due to a Distributor change. Now they are back and ready to show off their new features.

The wiper C180S is an Upgrade of the C –XH or C Series robot, which had a slightly out dated display and Bluetooth control.

So what is new?

The New wiper Premium C180S comes equipped with GPS for smart lawn coverage, GeoFence security and GeoLocate so you can always track its location. The next big improvement is the connect module allowing you to connect with your robot from where ever you are, there are some limitations to controls for safety reason although they are constantly update software giving you even more control.

The four button keypad on the robot is simpler to use, however if you want to make any setting adjustment you have to do it on the phone app, which is what most people will use anyway.

There now is a front bumper, which helps to detect obstacles. The older models lacked this feature and had to rely on sensing obstacles by the resistance on the drive wheels increasing, which didn’t always happen if the ground condition were muddy.

From Mid Season 2020 the classic hard plastic wheels will be replaced with the new flexi rubber wheels, a special design only available on Zucchetti robots. The flexi rubber wheels help give the mower more traction and also self cleans when flexing.

There is a new generation motherboard fitted to the C180S  the capabilities of this motherboard are exciting and we cannot wait to see what zucchetti will offer in new software updates.

Zucchetti have a new signal type which lets you put up to 1000m of perimeter cable on to the transmitter, the largest capacity on the domestic market, capable of handling even the most complex lawns with lots of flower beds etc. The Signal generated works well with invisible dog fence brand DogWatch, available from dogfenceireland.com and dogfence.co.uk other dog fence signals are of poorer quality and will not work.

So what has been kept from the older model?

If it’s not broke don’t fix it!

The chassis has stay the same a few adjustment have been made to the cover for new controls and bumper but looks are very similar to the old C Series.

Mowing and Drive motors are one on the best things about this robot lawnmower they are the best of German engineering and Wiper Premium have been using them for years, they are the best quality and most reliable motors ever put on a robotic lawn mower. The C180S benefits from the motors used on  robots design for much larger areas. Considering the number hours work these little guys do, they boast a very long life span.

The front wheel is a pivotal trolley type wheel and although there is only one of them it can handle most uneven terrain. The front wheel is of a very high standard and can be stripped down and serviced if need be.
